Operate a mixing or blending and cooking process

This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to set up, operate, adjust and shut down a combined mixing or blending and cooking process.

Application

This unit has application in a food production environment. It typically targets the production worker responsible for applying basic operating principles to the operation and monitoring of machines and equipment used to mix or blend and cook ingredients. This process is commonly used to prepare sauces, savoury fillings and marinades.

When batch or product changeover procedures are part of this work process, the procedures should be used to customise the application of this unit. Where more detailed changeovers are carried out, FDFOP2011A Conduct routine maintenance, should be considered.

Note that this unit overlaps with FDFOP2040A Operate a heat treatment process and with FDFOP2028A Operate a mixing or blending process. For further information, refer to advice on unit duplication in the section on qualification arrangements.
